“LA CASA DEL DESIERTO” GUARDIAN GLASS

It is possible to create comfortable spaces in an isolated natural environment? Can one live where temperatures vary up to 50 degrees depending on the time of year? In uninhabited areas and away from urban amenities? We challenge nature … and we test our glass solutions! In one of the most adverse and harsh spaces in Europe, the Gorafe desert, in Granada, we have built a completely glazed house that looks directly at the landscape and defies all design limits. Our mission is to demonstrate that by choosing the right windows for your home, you can create an interior space …

THE HOLE-Madagascar Jail

Severe overcrowding, due to weaknesses in the judicial system and inadequate prison infrastructure, was a serious problem. Ambositra Prison, for example, held more than 400 inmates, triple its official maximum capacity. One penitentiary surpassed its official capacity by nearly eight-fold. Lengthy pretrial detention was pervasive. Conditions in Malagasy prisons are harsh. Cells built for one often house up to eight prisoners. Family members of prisoners need to augment the inadequate daily food rations. Prisoners without relatives often go for several days without food. Inmates also suffer from numerous medical problems that are not usually treated, including malnutrition, infections, malaria, and …

HOLI…FESTIVAL OF COLOURS

Holi is a Hindu festival that marks the arrival of spring. Known widely as the Festival of Colour, it takes place over two days, and is a celebration of fertility, colour, and love, as well as the triumph of good versus evil. Gold in darknes ÁFRICA

Coming down into the mine with pulleys. Just a battery-powered fan to cool the atmosphere and move the stale indoor air. Just some rubber tubes as the only means of communication with the outside and just a chisel and a hammer to pierce the rock. Gold is extracted from Karangasso Vigue mines in Burkina Faso as if the Industrial Revolution had never occurred. A rudimentary strip mining of those known as ‘artisan mines’: unfortunate euphemism to name one of the shadiest paths, where the international luxury goods market circulates. The emergence of gold mines in Burkina Faso in 2009 radically …

AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE NEPAL 2016

In Kokhana, a village at the outskirts of Kathmandu, the situation after the earthquake in April 2015 is still implacably hard. Its inhabitants, most of them without any resources, survive with the best of their smiles, despite suffering from distress and depression after the disaster.  They have been waiting for eleven months what the Government promised them: two thousand euros for each affected family; out of which they have received absolutely nothing, since many international aids remained in the pockets of the Government of Nepal. A few international aids from foreign organisations have helped some families build provisional dwellings… just …
